Cv Value Calculator
Calculate the flow coefficient (Cv) for control valves based on your process conditions.
Calculator
Water at 60°F = 1.0
Formula
Cv = Q / √(ΔP / SG)Q = Flow rate (GPM)
ΔP = Pressure drop (psi)
SG = Specific gravity (water = 1.0)
Unit Conversions
1 m³/h = 4.4029 GPM
1 bar = 14.5038 psi
1 kPa = 0.145038 psi

What is Cv value?
Cv (flow coefficient) is the number of US gallons per minute at 60°F that will flow through a valve with a pressure drop of 1 psi.
How is Cv calculated?
Cv = Q / √(ΔP / SG), where Q is flow rate (GPM), ΔP is pressure drop (psi), and SG is specific gravity.
What Cv valve do I need?
Select a valve with a Cv rating 10-20% higher than your calculated Cv for optimal control.
